Your Pool Construction Process

As a Presidential Pools & Spas customer, you’ll never be left wondering what’s going on in your backyard. We believe in transparency during the pool build process, and will work to keep you informed about every phase. A dedicated project manager will provide regular communications and answer any questions you might have about the ongoing build. Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the stages of the pool construction process below.

Step 1

Sod Scrape & Layout

Once you’ve met with your designer and are set to build your new Presidential Pool, the first step in the pool building process is the sod scrape and layout! You will see us frame out your pool design wood and string! The size, shape and location of your new swimming pool will start to become a reality. The wood informs the next crew information of the location of the dig, and helps set the initial elevation for your new pool.

Step 2

Excavation

The excavation step is an exciting and fun process – we bring out the machines! You’ll watch while our trained and professional team digs your pool and shapes your future pool oasis. The dig helps you envision the end result!

Step 3

Steel

The steel process is one of the most important parts of your pool. It dictates the structural integrity and foundation for your new swimming pool. Watch as our team bends, ties and forms your new pool with rebar, which is a reinforcing steel bar that strengthens the pool structure. During this phase of construction, we will also place your main drains, insert pipes for future bubblers or other water features and make sure your depth and profile are on point before the gunite (concrete) step.

Step 4

Gunite

It’s getting exciting! Invite your friends and family to watch as our master shapers go to work shooting concrete (gunite) that will form your new pool shell. The experience and precision needed to do their job is incredible – they make sure every measurement is perfect for your new pool. Sun shelves, pool steps, swim-outs, raised areas, and other custom features will all start to emerge during this part of the process!

Step 5

Pregrade

In this phase we will remove layout boards, fill in voids left by the dig, and level the yard again. We will set the elevation for your future pool deck, and prepare the area for the plumbers.

Step 6

Plumbing

Plumbing is like the arteries of your new swimming pool – it brings the water to and from your pool and ensures you have enough movement for all your water features and spa jets too! You will observe the installation of piping for circulation, bubblers, water features, spa jets and other accessories. We will also set up your equipment for the electrician to install.

Tile
Step 7

Tile

This is craftsmanship at its best! Perfection is key for the tile installers, and they will lace every tile with care and precision. Once the tile step is complete, you’ll see your pool design really start to come to life!

Step 8

Electric

Licensed electricians step in during this phase to connect your equipment to a power source. They will ensure each and every piece of equipment is in optimum condition, providing you with hours of carefree swimming and poolside lounging. They hook up your lights, pumps, heaters, features and automation, usually in just one day!

Electric
Coping
Step 9

Deck & Copying

This is where our skilled deck crew arrives to pitch the deck for proper drainage, build steps, install deck drains, and more! The deck and coping stage so much fun – now you have your new pool deck, and you can start to plan furniture placement and reserve your favorite relaxing spot! If you have a screen enclosure going up, we’ll pour your footers right before this stage so the deck crew is ready!

Step 10

Screen

Pool time is best enjoyed without bugs! We will install your screen so your backyard is now an extension of your home. Keep the doors open and enjoy the breeze! We’re almost ready for the swimming stage, so we’ll call for the safety inspection and prep the pool for plaster.

Pool Interior
Step 11

Pool Interior

You chose an interior finish for your pool with your designer during the planning stages. Now, you will  watch these incredible craftsmen apply your pool finish to every nook and cranny! Once the interior has dried, they will return to acid wash the finish, helping expose the beauty of the pebbles. Then we will drop the hose in to start filling your new swimming pool!

Step 12

Fire Up and Start Up

The fire up process is amazing! Our technicians will arrive to get the pumps running and test the equipment. We will also start adding chemicals to ensure your pool finish cures correctly and gets you ready for “swim time”! The technician will return regularly for the first 30 days to make sure your pool is crystal clear and ready to enjoy! Don’t be alarmed if the pool color is green at the beginning. It takes a few days for the chemicals to start to work their magic.
